    Job Description
    MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
    Hall County Airport Authority
    Employee Classification: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-exempt
    Hours per Week: 40+ Hours per week, Rotating Shifts
    Starting Wage: $19.76/hour
    Reports To: Operations Manager
    Direct Reports: None
    Description:
    This position requires a self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills. The desired person will be able to work in a team environment as well as on their own. This individual will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in building and grounds maintenance, carpentry, minor electrical repairs, operation and maintenance of heavy and light equipment along with maintenance of airport runways, taxiways, ramps, markings, signs, and lighting systems. Provides Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) services for commercial flights and general aviation as well as airfield security observation. Rotating day, night and weekend hours. Schedule will vary depending on weather and flight schedules. On call after hours as assigned. This is a union position.
    Example of Duties:
    Perform maintenance and custodial tasks in facility buildings as well as maintain grounds.
    Perform basic aircraft rescue and firefighting skills.
    Attend annual training in Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting which includes a live fire.
    Perform FAR Part 139 requirements and attend training.
    Perform snow removal duties as needed. May monitor runway pavement conditions during inclement weather.
    Utilize a variety of hand and power tools and assist in routine maintenance of such equipment.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, carpentry methods and techniques and operational characteristics.
    Procedures and standards with tools and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of airfield lighting, ramps, runways, taxiways, markings, and signs.
    Procedures and standards of maintaining building and grounds, storm water systems, roads, and sprinkler systems.
    Ability to interpret manuals, maps, and blueprints.
    Ability to work outside in all types of weather including snow, wind, dust, heat, or rain.
    Prepare and maintain clear and concise reports, records, charts, and logs as needed.
    Read, write, and speak English, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Bi-Lingual encouraged to apply.
    Ability to take initiative and work independently with little or no supervision.
    Ability to work in a team environment and communicate appropriately with other HCAA staff members, airport tenants and the public.
    Follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
    Training, Education, and Experience:
    Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:
    Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in related field preferred.
    Experience:
    Two (2) years of performing maintenance duties comparable to those of a maintenance position within the described work areas.
    Training:
    Equivalent to an associate’s degree from an accredited vocational or technical college with specialization in maintenance and repair or a related field preferred. In addition, related work history or military experience may qualify an individual in lieu of education.
    Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
    Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Nebraska driver’s license is required. Must have reliable transportation.
    Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain CPR Certification is required.
    AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) or, AAAE Airport Master Firefighter (AMF) preferred but not required.
    Other:
    Annual completion of airside driver’s safety and training test.
    Successfully complete an initial, and continued, Security Threat Assessment and criminal history investigation, as required by the Department of Homeland Security regulations.
    Employment is contingent upon unrestricted authorization to work in the United States and ability to provide documentation establishing identity.
    Pass initial and random drug and alcohol screens.
