Businesses – large and small – make decisions daily about their operations and labor is always one of the top considerations. To this end, the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce and Grow Grand Island are collaborating with Wayne State College (WSC) to bring potential talent (college seniors) to the community via the Careers Scholars Cooperative Education Program. This program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience and a pathway to successful careers. Students spend three years studying at WSC, followed by a year of paid internship at local Grand Island businesses. Whether considering relocation for a job or maybe following a spouse, Grand Island has rich quality of living that is not talked about near enough. Well-paying jobs, great parks and recreational activities, strong education systems, ethnically diverse foods, shops and people, and the ability to become involved in whatever it is that you’re passionate about. In those 36 years, I’ve watched Grand Island grow from a cornfield-lined Highway 281 city of 35,000 people to a population of approximately 51,000 people and an ever-growing corridor.
